The Governance of Multistakeholder Cooperatives in Mondragon: The Evolving Relationship among Purpose, Structure and Process

Cooperative enterprises were first founded to organize business activity in a more humane and democratic fashion than was the case conventional firms promote social goals broader community beyond profit maximization. This orientation has led challenges for cooperative governance as these seek balance pursuit of their objectives with survival competitive markets. The universe is very diverse, however, different types cooperatives face somewhat versions challenges. One relatively new growing type multistakeholder (MSC) which consists one formal membership group. Given its relative newness importance, MSC should be examined greater depth. Mondragon Experience (MCE) most highly developed world. Much recognition comes from emphasis on worker cooperatives, but also created MSCs, among them some emblematic firms. MSCs are much numerous MCE generally understood. Under circumstances, this chapter seeks examine phenomenon MCE. We analyze connecting our analysis extant research suggest avenues future investigation.
